PASSION FOR PIZZA
While teaching overseas in Sydney, Australia, Gary met his beautiful wife, Isabel. Together they traveled the world in search of perfect waves until eventually returning home to San Diego, where Gary gave up teaching in order to take a shot at self employment. In 2006, with under $5,000, he started Platinum Party Rentals. In just three years he'd grown Platinum into a $600,000 company, and then in 2010 he sold it in order to pursue his real passion; food. Gary got his start by selling the legendary Sausage Bomb Sandwich from a hotdog cart in Pacific Beach. His hearty, delicious grub hit so hard with the late night crowd, that a few years later he tried his luck with a full service restaurant; aptly named "isa.bella" (isa--for "Isabel"; bella--for "beautiful") which almost immediately became the go-to neighborhood restaurant in Bay Park/Bay Ho, and continues to be wildly successful today .
One late night (at around 4:20 in the morning), while "experimenting in the kitchen", Gary came up with his most delicious concoction yet; The Pizzette; a delicious, handheld, surfboard-shaped, personal-size pizza made with all the love & all the same authentic, Neapolitan ingredients for which isa.bella's traditional size pizza was so renowned. It just came in a smaller, more mobile form. And with that, Gary's next venture was set in place.
